A closer look

Eight arched panels cut with hummingbirds, each 16.5 by 11.8 inches, in color. It is the largest single purchase in this catalog and the one that covers the most ground: eleven feet placed end to end, comfortably more when spaced. Like the four-pack, it carries no ratings.

  • The most border for the money

    Per panel this is the lowest unit price of the four border packs. Eight arches edge a full bed rather than a corner, and there is little point buying two four-packs when this exists.

  • No reviews on either hummingbird pack

    Neither the four nor the eight has been rated. The butterfly panels of the same shape show 3.8 from four buyers, which is a different listing and a sample too small to be worth borrowing even if it were the same one.

  • Lay the whole run out first

    Eleven feet of panels is a real commitment to a line. Set them all out along the bed, walk back and look at it from the house, and only then push them in. Arches follow a soft curve well and a right angle badly.

  • Soil, then water, then push

    Push-in stakes go into worked, damp soil cleanly and fight dry compacted ground. Water the line an hour before, press with a flat hand rather than striking the metal, and check the run again after the first heavy rain.
