A closer look

Where the other mountain sets fill their panels with ridges and trees, this one reduces each to a single continuous line. Four pieces, 50 inches of span, 15.7 tall, in black, at about three and a quarter pounds. It is the quietest thing in the section and the one that asks the most of the wall behind it.

  • A single line needs a blank wall

    There is very little metal here — that is the point of the drawing. On a plain painted wall the line is elegant. On wallpaper, brick or paneling it competes with the texture and loses. If the wall has anything going on, one of the denser mountain sets will serve you better.

  • Check the ship date before you plan around it

    This one carries a future availability date rather than immediate stock. That is normal for a newer variant and it does move, but if the piece is meant for a particular weekend or a gift, read the date on the retailer page before committing to it.

  • Spacing is the whole design

    With so little ink, the white space between the four panels does as much work as the metal does. Even gaps of four to six inches usually look right at this width. Uneven gaps look like a mistake rather than a choice, which is not true of the busier sets.

  • Same counter as its six siblings

    The 4.6 from 385 covers all seven mountain arrangements. It is a fair signal about the family and a poor one about this particular black single-line version, which is much newer than most of them.
